Man Eat Dog World?

May 31, 2007

In protest against the death of a fox during a hunt led by Britain’s Prince Phillip, performance artist Mark McGowan ate a corgi during a live radio broadcast. Even featured guest, Yoko Ono, tasted the dog meat that was minced and stewed with apples, onions, and other seasoning. A self-described vegetarian, McGowan said the corgi meat was “really, really disgusting”.

McGowan is no stranger to eating unexpected meats in protest of the monarchy; he supposedly ate a swan during a performance at a London art gallery. His protest obviously accomplished it’s goal: to get people talking. But I wonder how his actions can be construed as art?
